NMEA Dues Update: Sustaining Member Benefits and Growth

From the very beginning, the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) has been committed to keeping membership affordable so that as many educators as possible can be part of our community. Even as the costs of providing high-quality programs, resources, and advocacy have grown, we’ve worked hard to keep dues reasonable. Thanks to careful stewardship and the incredible support of our members, we’ve continued to offer the networking, professional development, and educational opportunities that marine educators count on — all while keeping membership accessible.

Beginning January 1, 2026, Professional Membership dues will increase by $10—from $60 to $70 per year. This is our first adjustment in over ten years, and it will help ensure we can continue to:

  • Provide valuable networking opportunities with peers and leaders in the field

  • Offer professional development, webinars, and training resources

  • Support advocacy efforts that advance our shared mission

  • Deliver publications, tools, and updates that keep you informed and connected

We encourage members to review their membership status and consider renewing before the new rates take effect.

Free and Reduced Memberships

We understand that financial circumstances vary. Thanks to the generosity of our members, NMEA is able to offer a limited number of free and half-price memberships for those unable to afford the full price. Completed forms will be reviewed by the NMEA Membership Committee. Preference will be given to new members and to individuals who wish to serve on one of NMEA’s committees.
