David BaderPresident 2017/2018

David Bader is the Education Director at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Bader has played an integral role in developing and managing school and public programs since joining the Aquarium in 1998. He has established programming that utilizes the incredible living resources of the Aquarium of the Pacific to bring visitors the latest information in marine science. Bader has created a suite of capacity building opportunities for Aquarium staff, university and agency scientists, and for informal science educators throughout the Los Angeles area.

Bader has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and a Master’s Degree in Biology with an emphasis in educational media design from the University of California at Irvine. Bader is directly responsible for departmental long-term planning, staffing, exhibit development, interpretation training, budgets, and grant development for the Education Department’s 12 full time staff, 41 part time staff, and 400+ volunteers.

 Dave began his tenure with NMEA by helping on the conference committee for the 1999 NMEA annual conference held in Long Beach California.  After that Dave has attended most of the NMEA annual conferences and has also served on the Ocean Literacy Committee, on the NMEA Board of Directors, and finally was elected to serve as President of NMEA.  In addition to his role as president, Dave is currently serving on the Conservation Committee, Grants and Fundraising Committee, and is participating on the Conference Committee for the 2018 NMEA annual conference, once again being held in Long Beach California.
