NMEA 2018 Travel and Lodging

The Queen Mary

Pre-conference workshops, plenary activities, and concurrent sessions will all be held on the historic Queen Mary. Once a world-class ocean liner, the Queen Mary is now a permanently docked, well-appointed hotel with attractions, tours, dining, and shopping.

 

Travel to Long Beach

Several airports serve the greater Long Beach area. These include:

Ground Transportation - Getting to the Queen Mary

From Long Beach Airport (LGB):

  • METRO AND BUS. Take the Long Beach Transit system Broadway/Lakewood from the Long Beach Airport to the Long Beach Transit Mall, then take the free Long Beach Transit Passport bus to the Queen Mary.
  • VAN SERVICE. Take Super Shuttle or Prime Time Shuttle. For a shared van ride, expect rates of around $20 for the first passenger and around $9 for additional passengers.
  • TAXI. Take Long Beach Yellow Cab from Long Beach Airport. Expect rates of around $30.

 

From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX):

  • METRO and BUSFrom any terminal at LAX, go downstairs to the LAX Shuttle stop and take Line G (free shuttle) to the Aviation Station of the Green Line of the Metro Rail Service to the Willowbrook station where you need to transfer to the Blue Line of the Metro Rail Service. Take the Blue Line to the Long Beach Transit Mall, then take the free Long Beach Transit Passport bus to the Queen Mary.
  • FLYAWAY BUS SERVICE. Flyaway bus service is $9 per ride to Long Beach Transit mall.
  • VAN SERVICE. Take Super Shuttle or Prime Time Shuttle. For a shared van ride, expect rates of around $30 for the first passenger and around $9 for additional passengers.
  • TAXI. Take a taxi from Los Angeles International Airport. Expect rates of around $80. Taxi stands are located outside on the arrivals level.

 

 From John Wayne Airport/Orange County Airport (SNA):

 

  • VAN SERVICE. Take Super Shuttle or Prime Time Shuttle. For a shared van ride, expect rates of around $37 for the first passenger and around $9 for additional passengers.

Ground Transportation - Getting around town

Long Beach Transit AquaBus. $1 per trip. Routes are shown below.

Long Beach Transit  AquaLink water taxi. $5 per trip. Routes are shown below.

AquaBus and AquaLink do connect the Queen Mary to the Aquarium (dock 4). The entrance to the Aquarium is between docks 1 and 2.

Long Beach Transit  Passport. FREE Service to specific sites in Long Beach.

Long Beach Transit Regular Bus Service.

Long Beach Yellow Cab (562) 444-4444. Cabs are not typically hailed on the street; you'll need to call, use the app, or otherwise prearrange service.

Lyft and Uber ridesharing services are also active in the area.
